DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 01: DELHI TO LEH: On reaching Leh the group will be escorted to
hotel from the airport. For the day the guests are requested to rest and relax
at the hotel to acclimatise with the high altitude. In the evening the guests
will be taken to Shanti Stupa for the sunset. Overnight and dinner will be
served at hotel in Leh.
Day 02: HERITAGE WALK (3 hours walk around the city): After a healthy
organic breakfast at the hotel the guests will start for heritage walk from the
guesthouse towards the market. On this walk Mr. Gyatso, a storyteller, willescort us through the walk. We will start with visiting the museum built by
Leh Old Town Restoration Initiative (LOTI) group, with locally available
materials and infrastructure. The structure evolves around a skyscraper
(Thokskar) on the top floor and has relics of Ladakh. From there we will enter
the old town streets where the entire landscape is still as it was in the Kings
times, some of which has been restored by LOTI. The walk will take us
through the King Singay Namgyal’s Palace. After finishing the walk around
the old town the guests can explore the market and eateries.
DAY 03: LEH TO PANGONG LAKE (150 kms): After Breakfast leave for
Pangong Lake (14,500 ft), crossing Changla Pass 17,350 ft. (world’s third
highest pass). The Changthang plateau, as you will see, are the nomadic
plains, home to the Changpa nomads depending entirely on their livestock
consisting of shy Yaks and Pashmina goats. On arriving at the Lake guests
can spend time walking by it, sipping tea coffee and enjoying the natural
beauty of the highest salt water Lake in the World. Pangong Lake falls 40% in
India and 60% in China and the region has been a point of contention
between the two countries. Later we drive down to the campsite, relax and
enjoy campfire, wine and stargaze into the night.
DAY 04: PANGONG LAKE TO TURTUK (319.2 kms): Waking up to an early
morning walk by the Lake is a treat one must not miss. The air is chill from
the night and the sun basks the rock formations and sand around the Lake.
After breakfast by the Lake guests will start on the days drive to Turtuk
through Agam and Shayok. Like all the overland drives around Ladakh, this
drive will take you through picturesque landscapes, mountain passes, River
Valleys and sparse mountain settlements. We can stop at any point to soak in
the view or capture a memorable moment enroute. As we approach Nubra
Valley we will drive by Shayok River, one of the three major Rivers in the
region. The River is also a landmark diving the Ladakh ranges from
Karakoram ranges. We will visit the 100 foot buddha statue in Diskit and
have our lunch in town and drive on towards Indo Pakistan border region of
Turtuk. On reaching Turtuk we will be greeted by our host at the campsite.
The guests can relax and have the rest of the evening to themselves to play
board games and unwind in apricot garden.
DAY 05: TURTUK: LOCAL STORY: The ancient and untouched Balti village
of Turtuk with its buckwheat fields, red cheeked kids, local craftsmen,political history of war and peace and cheerful locals is a treat for everyone
passing by. We take a walk around the village visiting the small museum
showcasing local history, the crafts men making stone and brass utensils,
Ibex horn bows and walking sticks and woollen handicrafts. A local family is
eager to welcome our guests for a traditional lunch with stories of how the
war of 1971 ran a line through the village dividing it into two country borders
of India and Pakistan. Some households have a part of their family living in
India and the other part into Pakistan. After lunch the guests will visit the
natural fridge, Sadbhavna army vocational training centre, primary school
and the fruit processing unit run by a former sarpanch of the village.
DAY 06: TURTUK TO MATHO FARM STAY (225 Kms): After a relaxed day
in Turtuk we are all set for the days drive to Matho farms to live the local rural
life of Ladakh. The drive will take us through Hunder sand dunes and guests
can relax and enjoy riding double hump camels. The sight of sand dunes by
the snow capped mountains is beautiful to behold. Onward towards Matho,
we will cross Khardongla standing at 5359 mts, it is the highest motor able
road in the world. Atop we will be received by our team with mountain bikes
and cycling gear ready for our descend to Leh. The ride down is enjoyable
and a major attraction amongst many visiting Leh. So we can expect many
cyclists, tourist enroute the same pass. On reaching Leh we will stop for chai
and continue our drive to Matho village which is 26 kms from Leh. On
reaching Matho we will get a warm welcome by our hosts. The guests have
the rest of the evening to themselves.
DAY 07: MATHO FARM / MONASTERY TOUR: Life in rural Ladakh starts
early when our guests will be woken up to diced fruits with warm herbal tea.
We believe that chanting and articulation of mantras opens ours chakras and
deepens our soul. Morning meditation will resume with serving of traditional
farmers breakfast. Ladakh is home to many ancient Tibetan Buddhist
Monasteries, some dating back to 11th century. The enormity of these
structures atop hills of the adjoining villages will be the treat for the day as
our guests embark on a guided tour of these timeless Monasteries around
the Indus Valley. We will be visiting the famous Hemis Monastery and
museum followed by Thiksey Monastery. We will break for lunch at the
garden restaurant, cloud cafe, followed by visit to Druk White Lotus
philanthropic school, internationally acclaimed for its architecture. After thevisit to the school the guests return to the homestay in Matho for Chang
(barley beer) tasting and open garden BBQ dinner with the host.
Day 08: MATHO DEPARTURE: After an early breakfast the guests will be
driven to Leh KBR airport in time for the onward flight with sweet memories
of the tour.

towards the concluding part of our Ladakh escapades, we start on our
trekking adventure in the Himalayas from the farm stay towards Matho
gorge. The days trek will take us through beautiful plantations and barren
mountains ascending to Matho La, with high chances of wildlife sightings in
the Valley. On reaching Matho gorge we will camp for the night in dome
tents, assisted by the best trekking guides and team in the Himalayas.
DAY 09: MATHO GORGE TO TSASKHANGCHEN (06 Hrs) 4800 Mts /
15744 Ft: An even walk with a series of small ascent and decends marks our
day. We take it easy and enjoy the days hike around lovely pastures and
Valley.
DAY 10: TSASKHANGCHEN TO MANKARMO (05 Hrs) 4800 Mtr / 15744Ft
Ft: The day’s trail steadily ascends to a series of grassy slopes, Yak herders
from the nearby villages live in stone pullus at the foot of the pass and our
guests can enjoy the amazing view of the pass. The route from the pass
follows a 3 km gradual descend towards Mankarmo campsite.
DAY 11: MANIKARMO TO STOK VILLAGE TO LEH (03 Hrs) : After a short
descent from Manikarmo on the concluding day of our trek we will reach
Stok village where a car will be awaiting to take the guests to Leh. On the
way we will visit Stok Palace and museum and enjoy a good cup of coffee on
the terrace of the Palace.
DAY 12: LEH TO DELHI/MUMBAI DEPARTURE: The guests will leave in
time for their onward flights with sweet memories of the tour.

DAY 05: LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY (120 Kms): Drive down to Nubra Valley

in an organic farm & enjoy lunch in beautiful surroundings. After lunch
the group will proceed to the sitting Buddha statue and Diskit

DAY 06: NUBRA VALLEY TO LEH (120 Kms): After breakfast, drive to Leh
after breakfast. The group will again cross Khardungla pass. On
reaching Leh, check in to the hotel and rest for the remaining part of

Day 07: LEH TO PANGONG (150 Kms): After having breakfast the group
will start off their onwards journey towards Pangong Lake (The highest salt
water Lake in in the world). On the way to Pangong we will cross CHANGLA
pass. On reaching Pangong the group will check in camp at Spangmic
village. The group can rest for a while and spend the rest of the evening

Day 08: PANGONG TO LEH (150 Kms): After breakfast the guests will be
driven by the Lake on your way back to Leh. On reaching Leh the group can

Day 10: KARGIL TO SRINAGAR (202 kms): After early Breakfast drive to

in the world we will reach Shayok River flowing from China and through India
flows into Pakistan. The group will be received warmly at the retreat with a
hot cup of Tea. The group shall rest till the evening bonfire and dinner will be
served at the hotel.
Day 07: NUBRA Valley TO PANGONG LAKE: After a leisurely breakfast the
group will start on their onward journey to Pangong Lake through Shayok
Valley. On reaching Pangong Lake the group will check in campsite and
enjoy the majestic Lake for the rest of the evening. Bonfire will be organised
at the campsite in the evening.
Day 08: PANGONG LAKE TO LEH: (6 drive hours): After breakfast the
guests will be driven by the Lake on your way back to Leh. On the way the
guests will visit Rancho school, Thiksey Monastery.
